true heroism

I don’t quote writers  much, (mainly because I have a really poor memory when it comes to doing so) but here’s one by David Foster Wallace I really liked .

This lady was in line behind me at the Mother dairy .
Septuagenarians in sarees and sneakers is a pretty
common sight in India . This lady almost looked as
though she hadn't  quite completely transmogrified from
the super woman alter ego she has .

in february

A few participants from a workshop on appreciating children's
picture books .  Was glad to meet Atanu Roy who was kind
enough to share some of his FABULOUS illustrations . Do
check out his work in bookstores since he does not have an
online presence . Those of you in your late 20's /30's would
know him from the Target magazine days . Sigh! that was
such a brilliantly put together monthly for kids.

Weekend guest 1 : If you have been to design school, it's
most likely that you went through a psychedelic socks
phase. (chances are you still have relapses from time to time)

I've lived in Jodhpur as a kid for about 2 years and recently went back for
a couple of days . The people who live there feel Jodhpur has changed hugely
but when your standard for rapid change (usually for the worse) is Gurgaon,
then it will  appear as though the city has remained the same for the last 20 years.

Though armed with my sketchbook throughout the trip, this is the only
sketch I actually made. This is a woman who lived in the neighbourhood.
The purdah in Jodhpur amuses me a little ..

A good year with friends and folks

It has been a good year with friends and folks . Since I decided to revive the
sketching habit very late in the last year , here are the very few sketches
I managed to do. Bye bye 2011 .You've been good to me.

Sib gets a new look in an attempt to look intimidating and develop a scary alter-ego.
 He briefly stays in character and says things like "Sadda baingan Saddi Marzi ";
a delhi phrase that means  my eggplant, my wish . This is my drawing of Bad Sib

Then Bad Sib forgets to stay in character starts cooking for all of us.

Winter's the time to drink a lot of red wine
Gagu broods

My niece, Sarah was visiting me with my sister. This is her watching
Masterchef USA. I've always noticed how she loves watching people
do stuff it a plumber or a cook.
